Terakota je druh neglazované keramiky vyrobené za vysokého žáru. Je to pálená pórovitá hlína cihlové, hnědé nebo hnědožluté barvy. Jedná se o porézní neglazovaný výrobek z pálené hlíny. Terakota je známa již od pravěku.
Od starověku je využívána k výrobě uměleckořemeslných, dekoračních i užitkových předmětů. Na její výrobu se používá hnědá jílovitá hlína s příměsí vápence. Výrobky dosahují vysokým žárem a dlouhým vypalováním charakteristické hnědooranžové barvy.
